Default Acoustic A20, A40, or possibly something else?

So, I'm looking at amps. I would rather not spend more than 200 dollars on this particular purchase. but im kind of thinking that I may need more headroom than the A20 so the next logical step would be to go with the A40. What are your recommendations? I'm also open to looking at others. I already know that prefer the Fishman amps however, other recent musical purchases make me not want to spend that much money. Thanks!

I would either not buy one and save up until I could get a PA system if you're looking for something for serious live performances. If it's simple home usage/coffee houses, a used Fishman loudbox mini.

Looks a little beat up, but for the money there's really nothing out there that competes with the Loudbox series. There's a couple in better condition that are a bit more if you care.

If you end up getting it, let me know how you like it.

I haven't tried the latest offerings from Acoustic, but I had 2 of their AG15s, played through the 30, 60, and 120 at GC, and had a B20. I'm not a fan. They didn't have much headroom compared to plugging into an older Fender Acoustisonic or a PA, and just didn't have a good sound to them. The 2 15s I had sounded very different from each other, so I sold one and kept the other; the B20 ended up blowing after I turned it on and becoming as useful as a paperweight. YMMV, but I'll never buy another Acoustic product.
