Can anyone come up with ANY other group that could elicit this many pages of comments as to whether there ever was a more influential band? Like 'em or not , they changed everything re. pop music and beyond.

For pre-Revolver, I would probably go with I feel fine, the sound of a group realising how good they really were.

Got to love The Beatles!
My favourite too! My number two would be "I've Got A Feeling" from the Let It Be rooftop concert. The Beatles never recorded a bad song ever. I still remember the day in 1970 when it was announced they had broken up. I was only 8 years old but knew it was a big deal.

Yes and nearly 60 years later no one has come close. Look at what they did in less than 10 years...seven years of which are the recordings we have today. All done without the aid of computer trickery, auto-tune pitch correction and in most cases on 2 and 4 track tape recorders.

This past week, Towson University's radio station did their annual "Beatles Day" fundraiser where they played the entire Beatles catalog on vinyl in chronological order from start to finish (plus they gave away an entire Beatles box set and a turntable to someone that pledged that day).

I just wanted to play hookie from work.

Because I love the opening line, "I read the news today, Oh Boy," probably A Day In The Life and I don't know why, but I like the story in Obladi Oblada.

Jim, there's a lot of "Best Of" lists of Beatles songs that place "A Day in the Life" as their top song ever recorded. It's perfect, so I have no argument with it.

I LOVE "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da," but I know others who hate it.

I don't know if you saw this, but a few months ago McCartney was interviewed and explained how he got the title of that song. I'd never heard the story before, and it was really interesting.

In a Beatles kinda mode, thought I'd revive this one.

I’m going to choose one 45. It was the summer of 1966 and I was just turning 10. I had been a big Beatles fan ever since Ed Sullivan. I bought (my dad really) all the Beatles records as soon as they were released.

I remember walking to the record store and I saw the Rain/Paperback Writer 45 and I bought it. I was never quite the same after hearing that record. I had no idea music could sound like that. Played it over and over. I still have the 45. Love the Beatles.

I've been tinkering with this one for a couple of days. Three times now I have put the guitar down and walked away saying to myself.. "Man, this is not the easiest song in the world.." The song is interesting in that it has elements of all basic notes (e f g a b c d e) Even a "d#" in the " b e d# F#m....b e d# C#m" hook! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFx-MEQ268A

This is tough, today I'll go with
1. polythene pam - love how it blends into the next track on abbey road.
2. Helter skelter - not sure, I just love it.
