Default Reglue fretboard help, it's not aligned with neck

Hi dear friends of the Build and Repair, I come to you once again for help.

This time I got a guitar which fretboard is detached from the neck. It's not cracked and from the nut up to the 7th fret it needs glueing.

I initially thought this would be a simple clamp and glue repair, but when I press the fretboard onto the neck, it doesn't "fit" and it's about 1mm to one of the sides.

Pictures to illustrate.

Any ideas on doing the repair without detaching the whole fretboard and reglueing it again?

Thanks a lot!

Side clamp to line up fretboard with neck.

Check for straightness of fretboard and you'll probably find it close enough.

Glue and clamp.

Over years of sitting in the shape of a guitar neck and under tension, the neck settles to where it wants to settle.

When a fretboard and neck seperate it is not uncommon for them to no longer line up, you can force the fretboard to the same neck shape by as me til Ed above using side clamps on the neck and then down clamp the board to theneck with fresh glue, alternatively remove the fretboard sand and shape it to the neck profile and refit.

Thanks a lot both Mirwa (Steve) and Jon. I did it as said and got the result I wanted, removed clamps and neck-fretboard are aligned.

Pictures to follow.

Much appreciated, guys!

FWIW I have found that those strap clamps are perfect for such situations as they want to pull everything together when you tighten them. I only ever use them for that very reason and still use a proper clamp and call set up together with the strap clamps.
