Default Alvarez AP66 SHB

Played one today at my local guitar store and was very impressed. I’m surprised I didn’t bring it home. Solid Mahogany, small body, slotted headstock and 1.75 nut. Had a very mellow deep sound, action was spot on. I may end up going back for it but I wanted to read up on it first, being spontaneous in the past hasn’t always worked out. Anyone own one of these?

Go back and buy it while you can. I bought one and loved it so much that I gave it to my son, who needed it more than me. I miss it a lot.

I need another guitar about as much as I need my skull bashed in, but I'm thinking about buying another one. It's a lot of guitar for the price, and it's a perfect couch guitar.

The AP66SHB is a solid top, not all solid wood guitar. I have one.

It’s definitely worth buying. Mine stays on a stand in the living room. Probably gets more playing time than my Waterloo.

Great guitar!! Sold mine. I just had too many and didn’t play that one enough. TB is correct, laminated back and sides but don’t let that deter you. Far bigger sound than should be coming from that little thing!! Another great Alvarez

Laminated b&s, but I see that as a plus for durability. Great little guitars.

With the sound it gave off I assumed it was all solid. Laminate doesn’t bother me as long as it sounds nice. It left me with a very good impression. More than likely I’ll be going back to get it. I have never played an Alvarez or given them much thought, but this one really caught my eye when I walked in.

I own the 660 version. Great guitar but as others have said, the back and sides are not solid. Wonderful little guitar though!

I have the AF66CESHB, folk version. Fantastic guitar that just keeps opening up.

Yes, yes and yes!! Go back and grab that little beauty!!

I have owned one for 5'ish years and it is a joy to play and is a real looker. I removed the pick guard and love the clean lines with the beautiful burst.

Probably get more comments on that one than the rest of my ensemble combined.

Good luck and enjoy.

Mine have action a little high at nut...
I considered working a better setup for a while,
but finally decided to keep it as is and tuned it in Open G for slide guitar.

I have an AD60SHB that I bought used with solid spruce top and laminated mahogany back and sides. Great campfire and travel guitar and killer tone and playability.

I have the 12 fret slothead solid wood alveraz and it a great guitar. But if you want the ap66shb, guitar center has them on sale now for $80 off. Maybe your local shop will price match? Or go to nearest GC and try them all and buy best one.
