I've always wanted to get a 15 series Martin. I tried both the 000-15M & 00-15M side by side in end 2018 at a guitar center. IMO, the 000 has more bass and is slightly louder. The 00 is more focused. So in December 2019, I bought myself a new 00-15M and had 3 guitars to play and choose the one I like. I still like and play the 00-15M a lot!
To the OP, I don't think the 00-15M will make much difference to the 000-15M. Maybe go for the 000-15SM or another guitar that catches your fancy. Just my 0.02 cents.

I've just bought one sight unseen...incredible guitar, though I am a hugh Guild fan. Can't believe the volume produced by such a small body!

Thanks for all the replies, I’m getting picky in my old age and want to try before I buy. Planning a trip to Sweetwater in a couple weeks.

Just wanted to add: Regarding my 00-15M, it punches way above it weight category.
I've been working on an instrumental that includes walk downs and walk ups on the A string with open low E thumps thrown in. This little guitar delivers a depth and richness that is remarkable. It just plain sounds good. The overall balance of tones, low to high is very satisfying indeed. All this is not to say that a 000 or a D aren't as well balanced, but my 00-15 is a very good guitar. |

I love the way all-hog guitars sound...and I'd buy a 00-15m in a second, but I wish Martin would use a gloss finish (a thin one) and widen the nut width. Personally, I have never bonded with a satin/matte finish on a guitar...and I've gotten so used to a 1.75" nut width, that anything less feels awkward to me.
But...that's me, and doesn't have to be you. If you are cool with all that, and love the sound...buy a 00-15m. The value is amazing, and the small body is super comfortable. |

Great guitars!
I have a friend (& former student) who bought his about 15 years ago (when he was 15 years old), and it was the best guitar at Guitar Center which fit his budget (I paid the last $35 so we didn't settle for sub-standard). The salesman was helpful and swapped it into a non-Martin hardshell case to lower the price. We drove 100 miles to look at guitars, and it was paid for by all his gifts of money from family, plus all his lawn-mowing money for the past year. It sounded good, and a bit harsh when it was fresh (not unusual for small all mahogany factory guitars). In about two years it really mellowed out. Nowdays it sounds amazing! |
