Default Value of 89 LesPaul

I have a 1989 Les Paul Standard in a vintage sunburst. I am the original owner buying it in early 1990. It is in very good condition. What is its value? Thanks for your help.

I would start by looking at what prices are going for on Reverb. I just did a quick check but there were only a couple for 1989 so you may want to expand the years. Do you have the original case?

reverb seems to be fairly high but they are a source. also ebay sold items.
vintage guitar indicates a 1989 les paul standard in excellent condition to be $1600-2700
you may want to check on the les paul forum as they may be more knowledgeable.

play music!

I'd try $1500. In my neck of the woods CS Historics are going used for $2500+, Classics $1700+. Standards a bit less.

I'm thinking you should be asking about $1800-$2200 for that guitar.

If you look on Reverb, the asking prices for that year guitar in good shape are $2000-$3400+. I do think the price on the high end might be too much, low 2K seem fair.

I picked my my '89 Gibson Heritage Cherry Sunburst LP Standard W/ OHSC about 4 yrs. ago in a pawnshop for $993 + tax.

Here's a pic of mine.

Wow! I would have picked it up at that price too. How does it play?

The neck feels great and is somewhere between a 50's & 60's neck, but leaning more toward a 50's.

The pickups do sound good, but they're not Shaws, or Classic '57's, which I think sound better in my opinion.

I accept them for what they are, and I plan to leave the guitar original.

The late 80's and early 90's are supposed to some really good years for Gibson.

I've been on the lookout for another one in these years, but unless I find a really good deal, I'd end up paying between $2K- $2.6K.

I think I'll just be happy with this one for now.

I just did some Googling because I'm curious about the pickups in your guitar. Came across a thread at the Les Paul forum where it mentioned that the late '80s Les Pauls came with Bill Lawrence designed pickups, "OBL" (Original Bill Lawrence). Seems like they're not a fan favorite as '57 Classics are. Not sure if that's what you have or not.

Yea Dru, it has the stock BL pickups.

They're decent enough to keep the guitar stock.

I'm planning on leaving my collection of guitars to my guitar playing son, and I'd like to keep my guitars as original as possible.

Hopefully they'll be worth more in the future, and he can do whatever he want
with them once I'm gone.
