Default No guitar for how long?

I had a bit of a carcinoma removed from the top of my left hand on the 1st. More extensive than I expected, but she got it all. Ten stitches, and no guitar until the stitches come out on the 12th.

Got to thinking that the last time I couldn't play was 30-some years ago when I broke my right hand. No playing for 6 weeks, but I didn't play as much then.

Now I play most every day, especially on the weekends when I can sit on the couch and watch golf or football and play.

Can't do dishes either, so it's not all bad!

Oh dear!
Get well soon. In the meantime take advantage and look what can be done around the house or in the garden with the other hand.
This is how I handled the last forced break.

ouch!!! that sucks Ken, sorry to hear that. looks like that hand is immobilized for a while. ive burned myself a few times on my Stone ovens at work but nothing that bad. i couldnt handle not playing so raised the action on one of my archtops and took up lap steel slide ( or at least my version of it ) for the time. open tunings came in handy...no pun intended. hope you heal up soon bud

If you are a finger picker, tune to an open chord and work on right hand technique and/or patterns.

Wishing you a speedy and uncomplicated recovery!

Thanks, guys.

These are actually interesting ideas. I'll check the back of the medicine cabinet for an old Coriciden (sp?) bottle.

Read a book. Write some lyrics. It's just a blink of an eye really.

Best wishes as well. The above is what I did when could not use my left. I improved my right hand technique a lot.

Duane Allman would not argue with that.

Sorry to hear about that Ken. Good news is you got clean margins. My wife just had a biopsy and had to have more cut out/off of her back. It's all good as well but it's nothing to mess with. Glad you're on the mend. I'm sure "Luka" will go for a hike with ya!

Yes, I'm paying the price for my English/Irish heritage, and too much sun in the days of my misspent youth. This is Moh's #4 for the year, but I think I'm done for a while.

Hope your wife heals up nicely.

And Luka is pacing around waiting for somebody to take him somewhere. I think I'll take him down to the river. I'm down to a big band-aid on my hand, so I can get a glove on now (it's chilly!).

Haha, Paul, don't know about that! Thanks, though.

Enjoyed your parade photos. Am wondering what that gorgeous little green roadster is, do you know?

I believe it's an MG A from around '57 - '60
