Need some suggestions friends.
I've always wanted the OMJM by Martin. Love the specs, but was curious to know if I went the custom route, maybe make a few tweaks, would it end up cheaper than the $4k asking price off the OMJM.
Love the scale length and nut width, which Martin only offers (with a couple exceptions) in the OMJM package. |

Unless you just have to have John's sig on the neck.
I opted for the OM-28e with Fishman (much better pickup in my opinion) A custom model you want different than standard, is going to cost more, as well as take a great deal of time to get. I also just got the 000-28 MD, Not sure yet if I like the $4800. any better than the $3600. OM |

Biggest factor for me is wanting a 1 11/16th nut.

I love the OM28, but not a fan of the nut width. Would it be a silly move to custom order the OM28 with just a different nut?
Seems like the upcharge would be yuge. |

When you ask about going the custom route, are you asking about the Martin custom shop or an independent builder?

I don’t know enough about it, but why not check with a well known dealer? Maury’s can probably help, and I am sure so can LA Guitar Sales.

Your favorite Martin dealer can work up a price for you, but it would be best if that shop has experience with custom orders. It's less expensive (or at least, used to be) if you start with an existing model and make the custom changes from that platform. The shop I worked in usually had a couple CS builds on the wall and a couple in the queue.
