Default Sting plays a Fender Acoustisonic?

Just started binge watching Hulu's "Only murders in the building" and noticed at the very end of episode 3 (?) that Sting is sitting in a chair with a Fender Acoustasonic guitar.

A couple of episodes later he has his Ditson or Martin Size 5 in hand, so maybe it was only a passing infatuation...

I'm aware that his name is Gordon Sumner, but do you think anyone would look if the topic was:

"Gordon plays a Fender Acoustisonic?

Hilarious response.
Admittedly, I probably would have just to see who “Gordon” was.

I think Fender gave lots of people Acoustasonics and paid lots of programmers to product place them. I have seen them in a lot of programming and in the hands of many people who haven't actually played them. But, they ARE the ultimate tote-along and couch guitar, so I can see a lot of pros enjoying them for sitting around and playing quietly.

That might be generally true, but Sting is definitely not someone who would hold a guitar just to get a free one.

That’s not what I said at all.

Sorry if I misunderstood you. My statement simply reflects the standard way that artist endorsements work; free stuff for plugging a brand.

I dissociate instruments in film and on tv from any musicians. They're either leased or bought by the producers. A non-musical example: Klein bicycles in Seinfeld. Whether or not Jerry or Larry were Klein fans, those bikes were props.

I also don't pay much attention to movie props. In this case he also had his little Size 5 Martin, so I believe they were his own instruments.

The product placement game is fun to see, and occasionally you'll see it pushed to an extreme in a show, I suppose to let us know that we're in on the hustle.
