Here are couple more shots of the prototype. I hope to get some strings on it later today, but in the meantime here is a few shots from the bench

Sweet! I'll bet this new body style will work well as a 12-string, too (with some bracing tweaks no doubt).

Here are a couple shots from a "rough" photo shoot we did last night. We want to take some more shots when we get back from the Montreal Guitar Show, but we just ran out of time. The guitar is just about ready, I still need to put in the pickup and a label, and do one more set-up, but Chris has been so kind to let me display this in Montreal, so it will wait till we get back. So far it is sounding great, I hope to have some feedback from some players starting tomorrow. In the meantime here are some shots:

Chris was in the neighborhood last night (only a 5 hour one-way distance away) so he and his son Caleb took the ride up to pick up his guitar. Chris a great player, and it was such a joy for me to hear him play his new guitar. This is Chris's 3rd Osthoff special order (Chris says he is my biggest fan) and while all of them have been fun to put together Chris really "pushed" me on this one. He and I both really like the subtle details that you can only see up close. These details are something that were pointed out over and over at the Montreal Guitar Show. (Thanks again Chris for letting me take the guitar there before you even played it!)

Anyway here is shot of Chris playing us a tune out on my front steps.

Here I sat in for a minute.

This is a seriously nice guitar... It was well worth the long drive and the big storm on the way back.

Anyone that is in the market for a fingerstyle guitar should seriously consider John's new model. Anyone in or around VA is welcome to come try any of my Osthoffs.

Chris

Hey John - I saw some pix of your booth at Montreal with Chris' guitar and a couple others - one looking like a cutaway 000, the other a koa build. Can you describe these and what are you planning on bringing to Healdsburg....As I just so happen to be visiting my brother out there the week of the festival I'm planning on taking the run up to Santa Rosa. Look forward to meeting you again....

Robert

Hi Robert,

I did have Chris' guitar in Montreal and although he has offered to allow me to take it out to Healdsburg I hope to have its sister in Carpathian/Sapele instead. I will probably also have a 00-12 cutaway (Addy/Mad Rose) the 000-12 all Koa and maybe an Italian Spruce/Braz OM. Hope to see ya out there.

(PS ... got a sinker/braz OM in the works ... maybe ready for Woodstock.)
