Do you think that the guitar came out of the factory with different tuners? Or was that done later as a repair maybe?? They both look like the same age and there's no evidence of a previous set on either side??

Well, it had matching tuners when it was born, the block ear tuners are later than the bent ear tuners, so it's your guess. The plates and the screw holes are pretty much an industry standard, so no clues there. Kluson was ubiquitous on all inexpensive guitars then, again no clues. Pick your choice and run with it...

Did a quick restore with stuff I had around.....put replacement buttons on the treble side tuners.....put a piece of fret wire back into the bridge, took the rust off the tailpiece......reset the neck......new strings......the action is perfect.....put a couple of coats of poly on it......don't have much money so I had to use what was laying around. It sounds really great!!

Is the neck big like a baseball bat? My dobro's neck sure is. You're going to have fun with that for sure, nothing done that can't be undone should someone want to perfectly restore it, and completely usable now. Good job.
