When the D string goes, do you change all the basses, or just the D?
(considering a normal life span for a D string - relative to playing time)

I always change full sets. I want them to all have a new, bright, balanced tone. I tend to buy my Luthier Popular Supreme 20 sets in bulk so when I'm ready to change a strong, then I'm ready to change all of them.

I usually change the full set, but sometimes as well happen the string breaks and the set shows little or no signs of wear I either replace the broken string or the basses. Trebles last longer so if you can't afford to replace a whole set, may brands offer half sets of trebles or basses.

Change them all! It's also a good opportunity to clean the fretboard and the guitar. It's like meditation for me.

Is D string the first to go ?
Hi all,
I've played quite awhile on classical guitar but only returned recently after about a 5 yr break. I never noticed that the D string was like the first sign to change strings. Is this common ?
