Default When the D string goes, do you change all the basses, or just the D?

When the D string goes, do you change all the basses, or just the D?

(considering a normal life span for a D string - relative to playing time)

It depends on how picky I'm feeling, and how out-of-alignment the new D strings sounds with the rest of the bass strings. I'd put on the new D string and listen to how it sounds and then decide.

I always change full sets. I want them to all have a new, bright, balanced tone. I tend to buy my Luthier Popular Supreme 20 sets in bulk so when I'm ready to change a strong, then I'm ready to change all of them.

Same here, I change the entire set.

I usually change the full set, but sometimes as well happen the string breaks and the set shows little or no signs of wear I either replace the broken string or the basses. Trebles last longer so if you can't afford to replace a whole set, may brands offer half sets of trebles or basses.

Change them all! It's also a good opportunity to clean the fretboard and the guitar. It's like meditation for me.

Default Is D string the first to go ?

Hi all,

I've played quite awhile on classical guitar but only returned recently after about a 5 yr break. I never noticed that the D string was like the first sign to change strings. Is this common ?

D string, 2nd fret. First you see the copper, then you see the nylon.

When my D string breaks I usually just change that string.
I don't like bright-sounding bass strings, though, except
for the low E.
