I would very much be interested in how the Sable holds up in a bluegrass jam. Maybe before you put it in its case and take the D-28A out on the road you could do the first road trip with the Sable.

I’m interested too. I did one set with the banjo player amplified and it obviously worked well. Even the rehearsal was fine. But most bluegrass I participate in is acoustic, or single mic. My assumption is that since the D-28s do so well with bluegrass, and the Sable sounds different than a D-28, that it may be missing something in the mids, bass, or overall volume. But, I’m always game. Truthfully, bluegrass is a small part of my playing these days. For any trips, vacations, sit in sessions/bar gigs, open mics, benefit concerts, folk festivals, etc., I envision grabbing the Sable with the backpack gigbag. It’s too easy and worry free not to.

Now that this guitar is mine, I decided to read your whole thread. LOL. I'll have to test the HFN at loud volume when my wife is out of the house.
I did change your strings and put 12s on it. I also took off your high saddle and put back the medium height saddle with no pickup or elastomer strip, so the action is low. Lower than the low saddle with the element and elastomer strip. maybe too low? Do you think the guitar would sound warmer if I put just the elastomer strip back in? My stock plaintop seems to be louder acoustically (and much louder plugged in). The hard part will be deciding which one stays in Ohio and which one moves to Florida. Quote:
