Nope, not that. I think it is something more about the basic guitar tone that sets my ears off. I will try out some different gauges for the treble strings and see if any positive results.
Perhaps I will record a bit of what I am hearing and see if others hear what I am hearing.

Strings don't all intonate the same, so that could make a difference.

A stepped nut is becoming more common in the classical world with more builders compensating the saddle and the nut.
