Default Recent Archtop and Torrefied curly maple SJ

Hi everyone, here's a recent arch top build I just completed for a customer that I wanted to share. The back and sides are African mahogany with a Sitka spruce top, ebony fingerboard, pick guard and bridge. The small Jumbo is still in the process and I'm pretty excited to hear this when its completed. The back and sides are Torrefied Curly maple and has a red spruce top. The guitar has a side sound port and I inlayed, veneered and finished the interior. thanks for looking!

Beautiful work, Sean! Looking at the archtop, how did the African Mahogany sound? I’m asking because after building 44 flat tops I’m itching to try building an archtop, and I am strongly considering using one of the mahoganies for the back and sides. Thanks and best wishes, Dave

Hi Dave, thank you! I was very happy with the sound of the mahogany, I would not hesitate to use it on your build. It's hard for me to describe the sound because I only had it for a short time before my customer picked it up and it was my first mahogany arch top. But the guitar definitely had the characteristics of a mahogany guitar, warm and kind of "woody" but it was also quite loud and sensitive/active. I have another mahogany and also a maple arch top in the works now looking forward to hearing them side by side. good luck with the archtop!
