Default The Witch of the Westmoreland [DADGAD]

This is one I’m practicing with a couple of pals who play fiddle. I think I’m going to have to bring it up to G but here is my practice track from tonight, in F. It’s not an easy song to sing and play at the same time. Deceptively hard in fact. Pacing and dynamics are very important, I am finding out.

A great folk song by Archie Fisher. Stan Rogers did possibly the definitive version but there are quite a few great tracks from very talented artists on YouTube and the like, some of which I borrowed from.

I played by McNally Dread and sang into a zoom recorder at the same time. The track would definitely benefit from setting up properly with a couple of mics but I was only putting together a song-structure track at this stage, to send around to my mates.

I do love how my guitar sounds here. Credit for that is due entirely to Ciaran McNally and the guitar. Thanks for listening

I really enjoyed this! The guitar does sound great and you do these folk songs so well. Shades of Paul Brady.

Really nice sound there, Coler! And you did a nice job on the singing, too! Amazing for a practice track. Well done!

Thanks Glenn. It's coming together. The diction.and cadence on the vocal is really important. And if you stsrt too fast and too "hot" you can't hit the peaks.
