Default "Lost in Translation" compressed file Audio streaming

For any one recording with the intent of uploading to streaming services "SoundCloud' 'YouTube" " iTunes " etc. etc. The video is long but is packed with lots of great information.

Andrew Scheps talks to media distribution people about the problems of highly compressed music streaming file formats. And talks about numerous encoding issues.
Including why he prefers to work at 24 bit -96k samples regardless of what it may end up being encoded down into .

Get a copy of "Digital Audio Explained - For The Audio Engineer" by Nika Aldrich and read it thoroughly.

Unclear what the book (which may be a good overall reference about digital audio ) would have to do with the actual specific subjects being discussed in the video.
Did you watch it and can you point to parts where information from the video and book might intersect ?

Totally intersects many times. Good book and recommended.

I was looking for specifics or a specific example but thanks anyway, it sounds like a good read and I will put it on my list.

The subject of the video is not about being an all around guide to "Digital audio recording" which is what it sounds like what the book is about.

While he gives a brief basic rundown, the crux of the video is about what is going on specifically with current digital distribution and the various specific types of encoding and transcoding processes that services like Youtube etc. are doing and how that might affect the audio of uploads. Unfortunately the video edits out the examples he plays, likely because the audio is limited to his voice mic. None the less it is interesting and I recommend giving it a view.

Nope, not at all. I have Bob Katz's book for that.
For the book I am talking about try reading the table of contents here:
https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Audio.../dp/141960001X

To clarify are you saying the book is not an all round resource for understanding digital recording ?

Thanks I actually already had read the table of contents before I replied , thus my post. Unfortunately the table of contents lists basic titles and not specifics , and from the table of contents only, pretty hard to make a connection of direct intersection with what is actually being offered in the video. And thus why I asked for clarification as to specifics related to the video.

Yes have Katz's book also , a good resource .
