Default Closed the box

Hello

It starts to look like a guitar when you close the box with the top and back glued on. I'm sorry but I forgot to shoot that picture where it's on the bench and you've got a kerbillion clamps on it. That's when you to say something like "you never have got enough clamps!" I asure you mine looks like everybody else's guitar with a kerbillion clamps on it.

Here's a shot you only get with a lattice back

This is a dry back. I can't wait to see it with a finish on it!

I hope you're enjoying this series.
Thanks,

Point of info here, Mark. What kind of a lighting setup are you using for your photos?

Good question. I've been meaning to comment on the photos too; they're as impressive as the guitar itself.

Default Binding Process

I got the end graft in and started to do some binding today. Here are more pictures.
There are all kinds of binding machines out there. I find this design works great and doesn't take up much room!

On to the binding---Get ready

Get Set

Go!

There, simple as that.

I'm curious about your binding machine. Can you show other photos of it?
Is it your design?

I can help you out there Jim. I'm 99.9% sure that's a jig built by Mark Kett in Ontario. Well he use to make them. Actually looking at the picture, it looks probable that Mark (Hatcher) made his own here, looks good too. It's based off a design by Jean Larrivee. Taylor uses something very similar. They take some getting use to but work well once you have the process down.

Thanks for answering that Rod! You know more about where this design came from than I do. I saw this at a friend's shop and was told they aren't made anymore. So I made my own.
