I do hear a difference. Question is, is it worth the thousands of extra dollars to buy the Goodall? I own and love a Goodall myself, so I am not being catty. My guess is that the economic hurdle fades quickly when the difference in tone is largely minimal.

There are many builders, I am certain, that would like to be mentioned in a comparison with the Goodall brand and legacy.
Some, very few, may be able to hold their own. Most others will fall far short but hope to gain by the mere mention of being thought of in the same company of James Goodall's work.

You are correct. The Cort AJ-850, all laminated, mahogany, spruce, is very cheap. And perhaps not a bad deal. However, it sounds cheap. BTW, Even with the terrible recordings you routinely use to compare inexpensive imports to high quality brands, it’s obvious the guitars you showcase are not in the same league as those which have earned stellar reputations— IMO of course.

Sorry for my terrible recording.
I'll change mic, interface, mind, and hands. *Waaah* I realized that it doesn't make any sense to compare expensive with cheap. It makes sense to compare similar prices or similar materials. And I love Goodall too. |
