We're just a few more HD-28s away from getting our own sub sub-forum. Congratulations!!! Enjoy every second with it.

Congrats on the HD-28. That is only my list of next possible guitars along with a J-45, D-35, and a M-36. I need a dread to finish out my acoustics, but could see doing the 0000/M-36 as well.

What a great looking pair Janine! After the HD honeymoon, how are you going to decide which beauty to play?

The guitar will be such a pleasure to play that you will look forward to playing and practicing. Your playing will improve by leaps and bounds! Enjoy it. Warning, when you start playing in open tunings you'll start GAS-ing again!

This is why I couldn't sleep last night! I am so out my depth.

What a good problem to have. And now I can conduct my own tone experiments right here at home. I'll just have to alternate between them. Play a song on one. Play the same song on the other. I don't want to them to start bickering with each other or getting jealous.

I do kind of feel like I'm starting at Day 1 again with the new guitar, and that is normal I guess. A preliminary comparison between the 000 and the HD-28, the former strung with lights, the latter with mediums.... the 000 feels like playing rubber bands now. The lights are so bouncy. The HD-28 strings are a bit resistant and need a little more pressure to play cleanly. Part of that is b/c they're new and part is because they are heavier. The sound of spruce/hog with lights and the sound of spruce/rosewood with mediums perfectly complement each other. Ying and yang. Chocolate and vanilla. Lennon and McCartney.

Too bad I can't play them at the same time. Now THAT would be perfect.

I did look at the strings that come standard on a new HD-28. It's these, MA550T:
https://www.martinguitar.com/strings...or-bronze.html

Which I think is what I put on the Sigma when I strung it a month ago.

I don't want to get distracted yet with strings, action, set ups, etc. I'm trying to avoid the additional rabbit holes while I'm playing in/breaking in the new guitar.

Plenty of time for all that later!

I hope so! It certainly feels that way. I could hardly set it down yesterday. I'm in awe of it and its beautiful huge tone. I'm like, is that sound coming from MY guitar????

It's intoxicating! I love the way these guitars smell, and I'm not embarrassed to admit it.

Yep, that smell is wonderful. I was afraid the dread might be larger with a big neck but I'm surprised how small and light it actually is.

Fate. For sure.

But I think I'd rather not meet at the shooting range. I don't want my guitar to get clipped by a stray bullet. Or myself, actually, while I'm thinking about it.
