Default Your five "desert island" albums.

You've been stranded on a desert island, but there's no radio with eternal batteries, no Professor, no Ginger, and worst of all no MaryAnn. There is, however, a working turntable, a 100wpc amplifier, and a kicking set of Polk Audio speakers that seem to have an unlimited power source. Luckily, you brought your five favorite albums of all time with you on the three hour tour. What are they?

Here are mine:

Brothers in Arms - Dire Straits.

Graceland - Paul Simon.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles.

Gord's Gold - Gordon Lightfoot.

Fizzy Fuzzy Big and Buzzy - The Refreshments.

Darkness on The Edge of Town
American Pie
Close To The Edge
Blood On The Tracks
Allman Bros @ Fillmore East

I would very much like to be rescued before getting sick of these favorites!

Oh, I love these threads. I’ve started a few similar ones myself on other forums. For my American friends I recommend listening to the long-running British radio show Desert Island Discs - Bill Gates and David Gilmour are some really interesting episodes.

Bob Dylan - Bringing it all Back Home
The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem (eponymous album)
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Willy and the Poor Boys
John Prine - The Tree of Forgiveness
Bob Dylan - Rough and Rowdy Ways

I don’t see any rules about doubles or “live” so here’s goes:
The Innocent Age, Dan Fogelberg
Late for the Sky, Jackson Browne
Miles of Aisles, Joni Mitchell
Where the Light Is, John Mayer
Born to Run, Bruce Springsteen

As stated before, i reserve the right to change this on a moments notice…..

1. Exile On Main Street
2. Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs
3. Afro Blue Impressions (Coltrane)
4. Kind of Blue
5. David Grisman Quintet (the first one, from 77 with Tony Rice)

I’d have to bring some live Dead too, but not albums, bootlegs of a few key shows from the early 70’s.

Default Beatles Albums: Give ONE Adjective for Each Disc in Their Catalog.

I'm too busy at the moment to do the whole oeuvre, but I've often looked at the Beatles' catalog as a whole and realized this would be a fun exercise.

I'll keep you an example of what I'm thinking:

Abbey Road: Mature
Sgt. Pepper: Innovative
Rubber Soul: Ground-Breaking

(I reserve the right to change these later.)

What say you? Would love to read your responses.

All the Best,
Scott
