Not been present where a major live album was being recorded, but was at one in London in 2017 for the (probably) last ever concert by British psychedelic group, Kaleidoscope. I videoed all their set and was later approached by a US producer who asked me for my footage to use on this compilation, which was pretty special, knowing I'd made a useful contribution to ensuring the band's legacy and providing a chance for others to relive at least part of that very special night.

Any of you been to a concert that wound up as a publicly released recording?

And, yes…I know many of you were at Woodstock!
The Load Out is my single-most favorite piece to play on keys. I wasn't at that concert though.

I WAS at Birdland in NY some weeks ago to see the John Pizzarelli trio with pianist Isaiah Thompson. It was live-streamed and later the whole first set was on youtube and you could actually catch a glimpse of me and Mrs. Cougar in the audience taking in this fabulous set. Unfortunately, that youtube is now "private" and I can no longer view it. Bummer!

I did see Jackson on the ROE tour - and it was just like the song says - "Just make sure you've got it all set to go before you come for my piano"

He did almost a half hour at the piano for encores after everyone else had left the stage.

Just like this:

Several years ago, Gordon Lightfoot came to Reno and did a show at the Pioneer Theater that was turned into a video and then DVD. It was also released to PBS I think, as part of their fundraising efforts. Was a great show.
It was called "Live in Reno"

I was also at two of the shows at the Warfield in San Francisco recorded "Dead Set" and "Reckoning." But they did 9-10 plus shows in New York.

I don't know if "close" even counts here, but it's the best I got.

The live half of The Kinks' 1972 release Everybody's in Show Biz was recorded in NYC a night or two before or after (I can't remember which) the show I saw in Washington, DC at (of all places) the Kennedy Center. So it was the same setlist, basically the same show. As a result of that, I've always considered that record to be sort of a personal memento of the concert.

And I did manage to see the Talking Heads 1983 tour that was later filmed for Stop Making Sense. Again, identical show, different city.

So in either case, no - that's not me clapping on the record, but it sort of feels like it could have been.

I was at the concert where Prince made the official video for “Purple Rain,” at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. The video quality is pretty poor, but the performance is inspired.

I didn’t even want to be there; my girlfriend begged me to go, but I didn’t want to hear “Little Red Corvette,” and his other pop radio songs.

I relented. And to this day, it is one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended.

I saw Arlo do Reuben Clamzo at Arizona State University in the late 70's They recorded it, but I think the version on the album is from a smaller room,

Still, one of the best Arlo shows ever. The guy is a master.
