Default Gibson Keb' Mo' 3.0 J-45-Anyone played one?

Saw this model in the latest AG magazine, and wondered if anyone had seen and/or played one in person. If so, I'm curious about any impressions you had of the sound, and also about any details you noticed about the neck profile, which is said to be a custom shape. Looks like an interesting guitar with a little larger 12 fret neck and a somewhat different profile from the standard J body.

Best,

Terry

Thanks for posting that video, Daryl. I also found this one, and it has me wondering even more about that neck. Would like to know more about the actual neck profile if anyone has the opportunity to play one.

Regarding the neck while it has a 1.805" nut the neck depth specs I found clock in at .880" at the 1st fret and .980" at the 9th. So, what I would class as being on the slim side of medium. Seems to be very similar to the necks on the Bozeman-made Roy Smecks.

Other than that, this guitar is built with Bozeman's wider angle "AJ" stye bracing so the same as the J35, J45 TV and, of course, the AJ.

Mind you the neck specs I found were for one guitar alone. So, you can expect some variation. On the bracing footprint that which I saw described it as "Advanced". This is a Martin not a Gibson thing. When I have seen it used in relation to Gibsons it more often as not meant the wider-angle bracing footprint as opposed to the narrower angle Standard X bracing. As far as I know Gibson has always placed the center of the X around 1 1/8" from the soundhole.

I played one today. Still trying to wrap my head around the price; it would be my most expensive guitar yet. I loved the neck and the extra nut width. It had great punch and depth. I played with fingers/thumb pick and the thumb pick as a flat pick and liked the sound for each. Finish was fine but I’m not real picky.

Have not played one but I heard Keb' playing one last Thursday night and it sounded fantastic. But then again, I think he could make and old garbage can sound good! ;~)
