Default Say WHAT????

Yeah, I know it is not the "correct" way to do a title, but I could not resist.

A neighbour invited me to go to the gala event fashion show of Vancouver Fashion Week. She was nominated for an award, so I accepted - to be supportive, and for the hosted cocktail party for nominee and guests.

I have never been to a show before (and likely will never again). Frankly I find the whole idea of designer fashion stupid. Other collections were OK I guess, but THIS one was...I am at a loss for words.

The designer is Japanese.

They are usually fun. They are very much like futuristic or prototype cars. They bring out creativity and some things move in to production, and others don’t.

Back in the day my girlfriend was a runway model. Yup, I got to spend some time at these sorts of events. As has been said the fashion is not for the unwashed masses. Some parts and pieces get there though. Lots of stories, best left for another day.

A friend explained fashion shows to me like this.
These clothes are not not expected to be sold to and worn by the masses.

Consider the wild and way-out-there art in museums and galleries for Modern Art.
These haute couture fashion shows are just another art form, nothing more.
The canvas is the human body.

Yup. One poor model tripped and did a full face plant. Smack right down. I felt so sorry for her. Yikes.

Yes. I doubt that one I attached will make it into production. It was fun. I enjoyed it as spectacle.

I have never seen so many people taking selfies.

As my friend told me, probably only 20% of the people there are industry people, the rest are there to be seen.

I was kind of bored for a lot of it. But then when the first model of this Japanese designer came out, I perked up. It was SO outrageous and fun, I really enjoyed it. Waiting for the next model to come out, to see what next would appear.

One thing that is always consistent with these things. The models always have that 'please, kill me now" expression on their faces.

The guy in the front row has both knees ripped out on his jeans. Is that still a thing?

I hope so, cuz most of my jeans are getting pretty old. Soon I may be in style !!

LOL, that is what I thought too.

As for the ripped jeans, I saw quite a few with "distressed" jeans. But mostly it was a dress up event.

Poor lady looks like she was assaulted by a gang of rainbow gerbils. What kind of pharmaceutical cocktail do you have to ingest to come up with an idea like that? Wow. SMH
