Notes and Tones, by Art Taylor.

Very powerful and frank book. It is an assortment of interviews that jazz drummer Art Taylor did in the late 60's - early 70's with jazz music's most prominent artists of the time. The artist's pull no punches in their discussions with Mr. Taylor.

Reading this book makes me sad, but enlightened at the same time.

I have a friend who is a middle school reading teacher, and he has long raved about the Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan. They are written for young adults, but he is a big fan of them and has been twisting my arm to try them for years.

So I ordered the first one, the first of 12 and 2 prequels. It is called "The Ruins of Gorland."

Anybody else familiar with this series? I expect I'll get hooked and rip through all 14 books.

Just finished The Woman in White. My copy is like the one in the link—off my late Great Aunt’s bookshelf.

Another good book. Ben Sasse is an interesting guy. Very level-headed and thoughtful about his insights & positions.

I'll make another plug for Gregg Easterbrook's It’s Better Than It Looks. It's a very good book for anyone concerned about the polarized society we're in. It's a good read prior to elections no matter how you think or vote.

I just started this series and it is awfully funny (SF in the vein of Douglas Adams). It's one of those books that makes you wonder what is going to happen next. This is great incentive for getting on the treadmill each morning (audiobook).

Interesting read on class structure as envisioned by founders and its evolution.

Just finished the first three books in the Amanda Garrett series of books written by James H. Cobb. These are a high tech military series of books focusing on Amanda Garrett who is the Captain of the newest stealth warship in the USN. I've lost count of how many times I've read these books.
I wish the series had continued, however the author passed away in 2014.
The series starts with Choosers of the Slain. I believe this book went under a different title in the US which was Sea Strike

Next is Storm Dragon

Followed by Sea Fighter

There is one more book in the series which I'm about to start now called Target Lock
