Default Hum,crackle with Maton EGB808 acoustic

I have a new Maton EGB808TE cutaway and when plugged in it into the amp it has a hum and a crackling sound coming from the speaker. When I plug my Martin with a Fishman pickup system there is NO HUM or crackling. I thought it was a grounding issue ... but I'm not sure. Any thoughts?

It's sad to hear of your problem with your new Maton. I'd suggest you return your new Maton and get another one or do the different instrument-cord boogie and whatever else you can think of doing to hear if that helps. Are you using the same instrument cord to test both guitars?

If your Martin sounds fine through the same amp using the same cord, the problem is with the Maton.

It could simply be bad output jack wiring - cold solder joints, poor job insulating the signal lead, bad jack, etc.

Easy enough to fix (if you're a former USN electronics tech like me). If not, I'd talk to the seller about a fix. IMO fixing it close to your home will be cheaper and safer than shipping it back. The seller should see it that way too.

Won’t necessarily mean needing a new Maton I’d be contacting the seller and asking them to investigate and rectify it.

I will say it’s worth the wait. Maton’s AP5 Pro is IMO the best plug and play system out there!

You could spray the 1/4 inch output jack with deoxit and push the jack back n forth a few times. Make sure to use deoxit and not any other cleaner. Otherwise take it back.

I have heard of a few cases where the mic arm/mount is loose and causes something like you mention. Should be a simple fix if that's it.
