1964 00-21NY - All Original, Old Factory Brazilian
All original 1964 Martin 00-21NY in excellent condition:
*Made at Martin’s old factory with straight grained Brazilian Rosewood and animal glue *All original including bridge, bridge plate and tuners *NO cracks, NO repairs except a recent neck reset by vintage Martin guru Tom Crandall. *A pick guard has been added to this 00-21NY, they originally came without one https://trcrandall.com/products/1964-martin-00-21ny Purchased at Manhattan’s venerable TR Crandall’s this ’64 00-NY had it’s neck reset done by Tom himself and he certified the instrument’s condition. This is a profound 00 guitar and for those of you who have had the opportunity to play a top quality vintage Martin instrument - including those from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s - this guitar will not disappoint you in any way. The tone is the very definition of why the vintage Martin guitar is so coveted among musicians and the playability and set up on this one is right along side my Froggy H12, which is to say like butter. There are a a few finish blemishes on the back side (they are pictured); none into the wood and they are small, but other than that the cosmetics are remarkable and clean. The Brazilian is quite literally no longer obtainable and the tone is, by a wide margin, the best from a (2 year long / 8 1960’s Brazilian 00-21s played) search through multiple cities …;. It was pure luck that the condition of the instrument was so pristine. You don’t find these often of any stripe and this is “ An outstanding example of the model ” as Tom Crandall pointed out. I have posted a link to Tom’s original listing pics and then some from my house. I have been a member here for over 11 years and in that time have been involved in more than a dozen transactions in and around this price point - it should be pretty easy to find a reference for me. U.S. ONLY and then only after a satisfactory phone conversation (numbers exchanged by message IM email). Last edited by MWB5007; 07-06-2022 at 05:50 PM. |

What kind of case is that? I had a similar era 00-18NY and it was a real peach! Best on this Paul

I can vouch for MWB. I’ve purchased several from him and I helped him find his last 2-3 guitars including this one. Top notch man. GLWS

these 00-21NY's
are remarkably good. the one i had was as good as the 1939 00-21 i owned. the 1 7/8" nut was not for me but the tone is awesome. GLWS

I am curious about the white line at the heel of the neck. Was neck reset? Is it just white polish? Looks like a wonderful example of a NY 00-21 ! I am also curious whether these NY guitars have scalloped bracing. I know that there was no scalloped bracing after 1945 until more recently, but these NY guitars are outliers in so many respect. So, I am just curious.

The neck WAS reset - by Tom Crandall of TR Crandall's fine guitars in Manhattan, noted in the original post. Although the white mark could be polish, I DID shine it up for the photo op.

Maybe adding nut width, saddle spacing and scale length would help prospective buyers.

Is the guitar still for sale? I saw a sold tag on your website, so wasn’t sure.
Thank you, Jerry Eveland |

All I can say is that the second person who goes looking for one of these is going to regret not picking this one up when they had the chance.
