Anyways, I forgot I bought a creme colored almost white guard and plastic for a partscaster I never made.

I love how it looks!

Hey Sal, that looks much better with the new light guard!!! There's something to be said for making a guitar your own!!! Why get stuck with something that bugs you? In your two pictures in your original post, the the picture on the right has the plastics looking a little more creme.

When I was putting my Strat 1956 style parts-caster together I was amazed at how many different types of white/cream variances there were to choose from. I actually bought three sets of plastics until I found the color I liked. And there were more than 3 choices. Regular White, Vintage White, Bone, Cream, ect

This is what I started with...

And this is where I wound up...

What I was trying to do was match a real 1956 Stratocaster like this...

Rockabilly you have me remembering my Strat I bought in high school with half a year of tip money from waiting tables… gorgeous. I think mine was a black guard? But I didn’t even know about swapping guards then. If I had known, I would have…

This channel bound neck is unique for sure! One thing that crossed my mind is that replacing a fretboard down the line could be a real challenge, and limit who might do the work… but then again, I don’t play seven nights a week ! This will not be an issue for me! I tried to go the Fender site and recreate the option, but I don’t think they offer it anymore. This is the neck though… compound radius too:

I can say I love the way a rosewood fretboard feels.

I’ll also try to get a good picture of the body… it’s mahogany with a translucent red stain. You can really see grain, and I love that my son had this taste! I think the guard and the accessory kit are what Fender calls “Parchment”. I like it a lot.

And Kev… I’m digging fireplace rock.

Is that you Sal, rockin’ your best Rick Ocasek from The Cars new wave look?
What a great memory shot!

BTW, when your son sold you that built to order Strat, what kind of guitar did he replace it with?

I really like the white guard with that translucent red, it looks great with the channel bound fingerboard. I remember parchment being one of my color choices of the whites when I was looking at plastics, As I said there were so many choices.

That black guard Strat looks pretty cool.

Frank,

My son is ten times the player I am. He replaced it with first, a custom order Kiesel, then another one headless Kiesel, and then a LP Standard Gold Top.

I hope you can make them out; this is a picture he sent me this week.

Doesn’t your heart swell with pride when your child excels at something in life that you love? We are charmed men, you and I.

I don’t know a Kiesel from a Schmisel, but you had me at Gold Top! Bahahaha!
That a nice herd your son has corralled.

That's a real looker you have there with very interesting specs. Way better with white guard IMO. I just replaced the black pick guard on my recently acquired Player Strat (Candy Red one in the middle). I also switched out the tuners to split shaft a few days after I took this picture.

That's a great looking Strat, Sal! I, too, love that fingerboard arrangement with the rosewood inset into the maple. And I like the white cream pickguard, too! Very nice addition!

What a great looking Strat!

That was one of my bargain buys (actually they all were...) It's a 2016 MIM Std. I bought in mint condition around 2019, it came with a small Marshall amp for $300. I flipped the amp for $115 , so I have $185 into the Strat.

All five of the Strats pictured cost just under $1k total. I buy stuff I don't need all the time if it's a sweet deal.
