Oh my goodness I can't even sit still right now I am over the moon! Just picked up a 1954 martin d-28. I,m in a state of shocked bliss. going to try and post a few pictures;
The guitar has some major pickrash and has some work done to the finish but the body has NO major cracks! One small 2" crack in side and that's it.
I have never heard a guitar that sounds like this. Sounds like a d-18 and a d-28 had a baby lol.

Congrats.

But a 2 foot crack is no joke.

Man, you scored. My buddy has a 59 he lets me play, and it’s one of the finest guitars I’ve ever held.

Congrats! You have “stumbled upon aged treasure”! No need for torrefication...

I can sense your excitement...much like a kid who is bringing home his new toy. LOL!

The woodgrain on the back n sides look beautiful and unique! Enjoy playing this guitar!

Congrats! I played a '57 that was so nice a few months back and it's the standard I compare all other Martins to. I wish I were lucky enough to try some pre-war Martins out but have not been.

What a score! The tone must reverberate thru your house like a sonic wave!

Oh man, what a beautiful guitar. I know people make lots of fuss over the prewar era but for my ear I have come to love the tone of 50s Martins in particular. Could be that I've only ever heard 2-3 real prewar instruments ever.

Like others have said, yours has a unique and beautiful grain. Congrats, enjoy, and don't let it go!
