Default Brook guitars

Any Brook owners here? In a minute I'm going down to visit their workshop. I'll report back this evening! I'm considering having them build me an instrument, trouble is I'm not sure what yet as there are 3 possible instruments I'm interested in :
  • *a 12 string Tamar or Taw (always wanted a decent 12 string)
    * an Otter acoustic bass (I play bass in a Jazz band so this would be ideal)
    * some sort of longer scale acoustic for dropped Csus tunings

Have a good day,

Rob

Well, I'm back- what an amazing experience. I can see what everyone was raving about when they recounted their experience of Taylor stock- it was amazing to be shown around a workshop and see exactly how a guitar is made, then to be able to choose the exact woods your guitar is going to be made of.

What did I chose? Well, not really any of the above. I decided that a 12 string was too esoteric an instrument, and basses don't really work that well. So I concentrated on an instrument for my dropped C tunings. And to my absolute surprise the instrument that did it for me was not some ultra long scale jumbo bodied beast but a small 00 size instrument with a 12 fret slotted headstock. The bass was amazing on this little fella. Brook call it a Lyn.

Anyway, here are my specs :
  • *European spruce top with a hint of bearclaw
    *Indian rosewood back and sides
*Indian rosewood bridge and headstcok vaneer
*flamed maple binding around the body and headstock
    *Gotoh slotted machines
    *herringbone trim
Should be ready in 7 months!

Rob

By the way, the scale is a slightly longer than usual 640mm (thats about 25" I think). And it will look something like this :

Adrian Legg speaks so highly of his Brook Creedy, he won't even think about taking it on a plane for fear of something happening.

i've heard they are some of the most precisely intonated guitars on the market -- have always wanted to try one!
