Default What's a good room humidifier?

The one I was using, a cool mist humidifier, finally died on me. My room is about 12x14 and I keep the door closed. What's a good, not too expensive (under $100?) room humidifier?

Thanks,
Pete

I avoid mist humidifiers since they tend to leave a white dust of mineral deposits everywhere. I like the evaporative kind, although the fans make them a little noisier.

Yeah the one I just purchased sounds like a 747 landing in my dining room. Noisy is an understatement.

With no reservations...

Essick Air MA1201 ($113 HomeDepot) or MA0800 ($92 Lowes).

NO dust, auto humidity control, 3 fan speeds, removable fill tank, replaceable round evaporative wick filter, which even I get a month or 2 use easy with my sediment-filled well-water.

LOVE them, use either religiously for a few years now...just swapped the bigger 1201 for the smaller 0800 cause the heat is on constantly lately.

How is the noise level on these two jmg257. I bought an Essick Air Products 4DTS 300 and anything above the lowest fan setting it roars like a lion!

I originally had them in my bedroom...annoying but not too bad...could sleep with them on. F1 is tolerable even if I am practicing in the room with them. The big one is running through the doorway now on F1 and I'm watching football and no issues.

I have the one that Sears sells these days for not a lot of dollars. Has two tanks, is pretty quiet on F1 setting and the sensor is only about 3 points off of my analogue hygrometer.

This is overkill for just a room, but it could run on its lowest setting, with two big water tanks and never have trouble humidifying a room.
