Default amp thru a Honda generator

I am playing at a wedding next month and there is no power anywhere!! I was going to borrow my works Honda generator [fairly new one], and run my Fishman Soloamp thru it.Nothing else plugged in.Is this a wise thing to do ? There is NO way they will hear anything I play without amplification.thanks!

This recent thread started out with a guy planning to buy a generator and turned into a chat about that plus some external battery options

It's been awhile since I was at a farmer's market where the amplified sound was courtesy of a generator; they've all been battery packs or built-in systems like Bose S1. Some comments about the Honda EU2000 or 3000. Good luck!

The noise from the generator could be an issue. If so, another option would be to use an inverter of sufficient power with a battery from a car/boat/RV to power your amp. Or you could get one of those "solar generators" that are essentially a lithium battery, inverter, and charger packaged in a box if it's something you may want to use again (I.e., emergency power, camping, etc.)

A gas powered inverter generator should work. T
hey generate clean power where regular gas powered generators generate pretty dirty power.

Not sure if your amp has a plug in power input. i use this Lenmar computer battery that lasts for hours on my 75wt Phil Jones Double 4 bass amp.

ive used a honda 2000ui
to power the pa system
at a local FM. Not any genset
will do for electronics
I think it has to be a pure sine wave
inverter type or you may
damage your amp.
Perhaps someone less electrically
challenged than myself
could chime in on this point.
But id do my research b4 using
powering anything especially digital
with just any old genset.

Can you rent a battery powered amp like the Loudbox Mini charge or Bose S1 for the event? That seems like an easier solution as these amps each will sound great and are literally plug and play.

I’ve played several times on a generator. No issues. We’ve even run a full band off of two. Honda generators are usually quiet. Your fishman solo amp won’t draw that many amps. Just make sure you have extra gas. 😉

I'd run my 2k inverter generator, but I'd try to get it as far away from the music area as possible. Pretty quiet as generators go, but still too loud to have close by.

Check out my video on YouTube. See link on this site. Expert Power Alpha 400 will run Solo amp for 5+ hours at 100dB!
