Default DPA / Clip-on mic users

Is anyone actively using a mic like the DPA? I am interested in using one to livestream but I’m wondering if the clamp may leave marks on my guitar.

I have the dpa 4099/d:vote and use it occasionally. We have several at the theatre where I work (and where we are looking forward to having live artists again sometime in the future...). They don’t leave marks, just make sure it clamps on sufficiently to stay stable but not so hard you dent the finish (this is very unlikely!).

I owned one for a while. Worked well. No marks.

No marks, but the clamp did not hold the mic in place, fell down to the ground.

I have one, I used to use it a lot, but don't these days. And yes, I have several guitars with the dents to prove it... The clamp seems good at first, but tends to come off, leading to efforts to clamp it tighter, leading to small indentations. James Taylor's solution (as seen on his One Man Band DVD) was duct tape.

There's duct tape, and then there's really expensive gaffer tape. There's more than one kind of really expensive gaffer tape, actually. One kind grips like crazy but may dissolve the finished it's attached to. The other kind is a little less grippy but won't hurt your surface. That's what you want. I don't have the exact thing top of mind even though there's a roll of it in the trunk of my car (where it's been for a year), but you can call Mark's Paint in N Hollywood CA and they'll tell you what to get. They work a lot with people doing TV and film shoots and such.
