Default Anyone does aftermarket inlays?

Have a friend who wants to have some inlays done on his guitar. Anyone does this?

Thanks!

Most anything can be done … but the cost may be prohibitive? It’s usually done on the front end of the design, where it’s easier and usually more cost effective.

I don't do inlay on any other guitars than my own. Like Tim mentioned, I do it during the build stage. If you are talking about a fretboard, there would not be any finishing involved but most likely need a re-fret. It is not something I would "want" to tackle even on one of my guitars.

I have not talked with Dave Nichols in a long time, but these guys do great work and could probably help you out.

Larry Robinson is usually considered the king of inlay, and after that I usually think of Harvey Leach. Their styles, as well as the styles of others mentioned, are of considerable variance. Best to do a bit of research.

Dave Nichols - CPI - Custom Pearl Inlay (Malone, NY) might do after-assembly orders.

Lovely indeed! That piece has an interesting 3-D dimensionality.

If you're looking for pre-cut inlays to be installed yourself, check out these guys.

Check out Precision Pearl. I know of them, but I don't know them and haven't seen their work.
