Default Baggs Venue - alternatives?

Hi,

I am trying to keep my gear small. All I need is

-EQ
-boost
-tuner
-DI

and I donīt want to go digital. I only know two units, that fit my needs:

Fishman Platinum - it really colous the sound in a way I donīt like

LR Baggs Venue - sorry, but the price is not acceptable for me.

Do you know something similar? No tuner or no DI would be acceptable, would simply add one pedal.

Any ideas?

cu

The recently announced (at NAMM) and hopefully soon-to-be-available-to-we-the-public Grace ALiX, as in the single channel little brother of the much lauded Felix, would definitely be my number one choice of the alternatives right now.

There's also the Tonebone stuff which i've been impressed with when i've come across them.

Well, the Venue is $299 new, maybe $200 used (there's one with a bid of $137 on ebay right now). There are tons of preamps, they get listed here all the time. Red Eye, DTar Solstice, Headway EDB-1 or 2, any of these will run $200 or (much) more. If the price is the only thing you don't like about the Venue, maybe buy used or save up for a bit and just get what you really want? Most alternatives will cost more, and you'll end up spending even more for a tuner, booster, etc.

A used Baggs para DI, would work for you. Time tested classic.

Hi,

here in Germany a Venue will be sold for 429 €. There are not many units that are selling used.

For 250 $ I would buy one next day...

You should consider buying one used from US. I live in Germany and have bought loads of gear from the US ... some from this forum. You'll pay about 22% on top of the price + shipping you paid ... but it usually still ends up cheaper.

You can find Venues on Reverb.com all day long for ~$250USD. I'm sure you could negotiate shipping costs with the seller.
