Oh wow. I didn’t realise the red eye can do that. Is that the A+B function I’ve just read about? Will it handle a passive dual system (piezo and internal electret mic) and provide power to the mic? Presumably you’d need a stereo Y cable from the guitar which splits piezo into one channel and mic into another?

Thanks for all your guidance..

This is a custom option for the RedEye Twin - you just have to tell them you want electret power on the B channel for the mic. No extra charge. Yes, then you can use a Y cable, set the preamp to A+B, and you're set. The EQ is limited, of course, and I begged for a high pass filter on the mic channel instead of a treble control, and they tried, but couldn't do it. But it works pretty well, as long as your mic isn't too boomy. The twin has a nice advantage over the smaller red-eye in that in A+B mode, there's a mute switch.

Doug, thankyou so much! I’d passed this unit by because I’d just assumed it couldn’t blend. And thanks for the fair minded caveats in your description of features and performance.

So I'll chime in a bit on the felix.
One thing it has over the EDB is adjustable
input impedance for each ch. This is a set it and forget
it feature for me because both my pickups
are 1mgohm and sound best on that setting.
But in the future it could change.
I could also use the felix in a pinch as a
standalone mixer ( I haven't tried this but i think
it would work) Chan 2 can act as a dual source
blender sending one signal from a TRS connection
to ch 1 for seperate eq . I needed seperate eq
because i play mandolin and guitar in the band
So i don't use this feature but may in future in my
solo act.
It is very quiet. Many replies above on that issue.
I can go on.
Most folks on the forum will tout what they
own. I have never owned the EDB. But researched
it awhile ago before i bought the felix.
Folks that have tried both will probably
tell you the felix is hands down a better unit.
And would not consider trading one for the other.
The EDB and red eye get a lot of love. But those owners probably
have never tried the felix... Grain of salt given..
One thing to consider .. the plug in power of the
felix gives a much stronger steady power source.
Phantom can be sketchy and inconsistent when
multiple people are using the same source.
And it's just not that powerful. Good luck with the process ..
If your not verse in tweaking things. Or don't
have much experience with parametric eq,
Than a plug and play simple device like the Red eye would
probably suit you more. But if your not afraid
to learn or if you already know how to tweak EQ,s
The felix will be a more satisfied experience.
