Favorite picks for Martin’s
After two years of playing at a beginner/almost mediocre level I’ve settled on Fender Heavy confetti picks... They seem to take away some of extreme highs that a medium Fender celluloid brings out on my D18.

I always use either Fender 346 Mediums or Dunlop 426P.73 Ultex Triangle .73mm Picks. Pick (choose) the pick (plectrum) that works the best for you. Each different pick will change the tone of your playing.

I’m a cheap date when it comes to picks. Fender thins are all I need. Choke up on them when I want some stiffness for picking, then back off when I want flexibility for strumming. Works for me...

OP, you mentioned using a thicker pick to tame brightness, you are on the right track. For that same reason I like Primetones and Ultex pics ranging from .88mm to 1.3mm.

Dunlop Nylon .60/.67/.73, depending on instrument/strings/musical genre...

I like the Wegen Bluegrass picks in 1.0 - 1.4mm or the Primetone picks in 1.0 - 1.3mm. I used to only use generic thin picks, but after some experimentation have settled on these two for most of my guitar playing.

Both Collings and D'Andrea make real celluloid picks. I use their heavies.

Everybody will have a personal favourite and also acceptable price. I thought Blue Chip picks were a "con" until I tried one.
I tried every pick I could to compare... then I bought a BC pick for every guitar and my mandolin. I prefer 346 large triangles ("TAD") and 50 (1.25 m/m) for dreads and jumbos and 40 (1 m/m) for 000 and smaller guitars. I also have Wegen TF120s and140s which sometimes I prefer on my 12 strings. After having experienced finish and "speed bevels" of both the above - don't see much point in buying an unfinished pick, but, of course you could to this: BTW - the argument about losing expensive picks is a false assumption. Value perception instincts will ensure that you devise a way of ensureng that you NEVER lose an expensive pick.
