My thoughts as well. The Blues Junior doesn't have those sparkling Fender cleans like the other Fender amps mentioned here. I'm not sure about the newest Blues Juniors but the older ones had EL84 tubes and I think most of the other Fenders are 6V6 / 6L6 tubes.

The older green board (versions I and II) were fairly dark, but the cream board (III and now IV) has Fender Clean (bright/severe with stock speaker).

Default Amp recommendation - clean tone/pedal platform

These would be my suggestions

Vox AC30 /15
Fender Pro Reverb
Fender Vibroverb
Messa 1x12

All the above I have gigged with but my amp that i last used and still love is a ZT Lunchbox 200 watts clean sound and loves pedals ZT also make the Club 200watts but with a 1x12 great portable amps and really light

Just tossing this suggestion into the mix, even though purists might freak: try a Roland Blues Cube, either the Blues Cube Hot 30, or the larger two channel 60w (and, I believe, there's an 80w). No tubes, but their cleans are remarkably good and organic sounding, the gain extraordinarily natural, the response fantastic, and they are very light and easy to transport. Not cheap for a SS, but, then, they don't sound SS at all, and - at least the Hot 30, is much cheaper (and, IMO, better sounding) than a Blues Jr.

I’ve read lots of good reports for the Fender Mustang amps as well.

Default Solid State Options

I would consider solid state options.

Just to get you started...

I picked up a vintage Yamaha G30-112 ...has sort of cult following with jazzers...and cheap.

Princeton Reverb or Deluxe Reverb would be my choice.

I've had a b/f 1965 Deluxe Reverb since 1969. And I have a Bugera V22, with Swamp Thang speaker.
Get the Bugera now, and save for a blackface.
The Bugera is really versatile, loud, complex, and really surprised me. I must have 25 amps.

You have to try a Boss Katana 50. They really sound fabulous at any volume, are very light, and quite inexpensive.
