Taylor tech adjusted my guitar to my playing style - now I am hooked on Taylors
Short story: I made an appointment with Taylor Service Center in Amsterdam. I eventually got to speak with a guitar tech. I explained the history of my 214ce and he went back to his work bench. He did a neck reset and lowered the action to fit my playing style. I know know that Taylor guitars can be set up to play comfortably especially in combination with Thomastik Infeld Strings. I have 11s on the guitar and the tech suggest trying Thomastik Infeld 12s with the lowered action which I will do. Thanks Taylor!! It is great to support a San Diego company being from that area too.
I can already see a 314ce, 414ce-r, 814ce, or GS eMini (mohagony) in my future.

Taylor neck resets are not for personalizing guitars. Recutting nuts, truss rod adjustments and lowering bridge saddles can make your guitar fit your personality. Nothing wrong with these adjustments and they can make any guitar more playable.

Glad you got a guitar that fits you and your playing style. I too find Taylor very comfortable to play especially after a good setup.

I was a hold out for years when it came to Taylor, but I finally came around and I'm glad I did. I bent the knee. They are great guitars, indeed.

In reference to the OP’s mention of TI strings, TI Plectrums are a nice fit on many of the Taylors I have owned. They tame some of the high end shimmer and produce a more balanced tonal signature. And oh they are so comfortable to play.

Just like that while you waited? Is that because a Taylor neck is not glued to the body?

I’ve never owned a Taylor, so I can’t categorically state that it’s the truth, but it’s what I’ve heard.

More like 10 minutes for someone who has done enough to have some experience with it.

I've watched the process being done (with great success) on several of my Taylors. I didn't have a stopwatch, but I'd say it never took more than 30 minutes, even when combined with interesting conversation. The whole setup process is based around the idea of shimming the removable neck, and keeping the saddle height fixed (rather than vice versa). I was very struck by the ingenuity of the concept, and its effectiveness.

Actually another thread discussed this (I said the same as you basically). It seems that the correct way to do a set up on a Taylor is to leave the saddle alone and adjust the neck shims. It doesn't make sense to me either, but......
