Default An admission of guilt

I really enjoy the conversations we have here. I love talking about different tone woods, picks, strings, etc etc. And I've learned some things here, no doubt. At the same time, I've come to realize I use it as a distraction from practicing.

So I've come up with a little resolution for myself. For every hour I spend on here (and other online forums), I'm going to spend 2 hours practicing.

There. I said it.

Good for you! I, on the other hand, have never understood why being on forums is supposed to mean practicing less. Who practices twenty four hours a day? I practice a couple hours a day or so...and when I check forums afterward I enjoy the fellowship and learn some stuff. What’s the harm? Works for me...

I try to stay off forums when I'm at home. Most of my posts are during downtime at work.

Yup, me too.

I only check forums at work during slow periods. When I'm at home, I rarely check or read anything online because I sit behind a computer screen 40+ hours a week. The last thing I want to do at home is get behind another screen.

I just play because I like to. I don't practice so much as learn stuff because I want to use it to have more fun playing. So that part is fun also.

Since there is no way to like a post I am choosing to quote it in order to express my agreement with its sentiment. The moment I stop having fun playing is when I stop. I’m not a pro but if I earned money doing anything that I have doing with anyway it would just be the cherry on top.

Yes, this and other smaller forums are extremely helpful, but like all forms of social media, they can quickly consume a LOT of time. So, moderation is the key... I will scroll through about once a day and read / respond, as I find breaks in the day or evening.

Good on you, but this more like an admission of innocence than of guilt.
