Does this looper exist?
I'm looking for the following features in a looper:
I can come close by using two RC1 pedals with external footswitches. One pedal to do a short percussive rhythm loop and the other to do longer chord phrases. This works fine except for stopping and restarting them both at the same time. Hopefully, there is a pedal out there that can accomplish this but I am new to loopers and not sure where to start. I am not concerned with pre-recorded loops or drum tracks. But I do want something with a small footprint if possible. As a bonus, I'd love something that had the original and looped signals output independently so I can have the looper louder in the monitor than it is in the mains. Thanks for any recommendations! |

You should check Headrush looper and singular sound loop station.

BOSS RC-202 should work but I would read the manual carefully before buying to be sure it does what you want.
You can also exclude most of the old ones (Those reviews are great because, all the drawbacks are reviewed) http://loopermusic.com/full-list-of-...eviews-so-far/ and consider iPad / PC based app https://www.mondaiji.com/blog/other/...ltimate-looper

This one should meet your needs - I have one and it's great. You can run the loops either simultaneously (multi track) or consecutively (single) and they can all be different lengths.
https://www.boss.info/us/products/rc-50/ There are two output feeds - you can choose what output each loop goes to. Mic input with phantom power, stereo input/output support. Undo No double tapping. The only downside is it's huge! Also it's discontinued but easy to find used. Built like a tank like all Boss products. Hope this helps!

I think my Boomerang will do all of that. I have it on semi-permanent loan to a friend (overkill for my uses). Not sure they even make them any more. I wonder what the newest Boss will do? (just shown off at NAMM). It's very capable compared to past models. There are three new models of Boss loopers, and then there is the still-out-there Boss RC-300 which captures three separate loops…XLR input as well as ¼", stereo out, and importexport .wav files, and an expression pedal (and individual volumes for all three tracks) built in. |

Thanks, everyone. I've looked into all of your suggestions.
Headrush was a bit overkill. I'd like to keep it pretty simple and live. Singular sound doesn't seem to be really out there yet. The higher level Boss stuff is possible but the footprint and price are pretty big. It's frustrating because two RC1s are about 95% of the way to what I'd like. I can set the external footswitches next to each other to stop the loops at the same time. So all that's really lacking is a way to start them simultaneously... something I'll do on 1-3 songs out of a 40 song show. I'm very new to loopers... and acoustics, got into the duo thing accidentally, and was hoping there would be something out there I wasn't aware of that was NOT a full-featured, programmable, pre-recorded, quantized, high-end looper. Preferably for $400 or less. Ideally, these six buttons would be it: 1. Loop1 record/playback 2. Loop1 stop/erase 3. Loop2 record/playback 4. Loop2 stop/erase 5. Loop2 undo/redo 6. Both combined-stop/combined-restart I may just be too picky. |

Sale price would put something like that in your target price range. I'm not sure why you would want to start / stop loops together, especially if you want loops to be different lengths. That would seem to be outside of what a looper is used for. |

Stopping the loops together is mostly just for ending songs.
Stopping then starting them together is just for a couple of dance songs where we cut out for a measure and then back in. I can just stop Loop 2 and let the rhythm loop play for a bar then restart the phrasing loop... Just be more dynamic to stop/start them both. The EH looks interesting. Looks like I can get any midi foot controller and program the button behavior to my taste. So that might be an option if I can't find any cheaper alternatives. I'm 95% of the way there with the RC1... would still love to find the last 5% without bringing programming into the mix. |

A USB interface (I use it with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2) together with Quantiloop on an iPad (or iPhone/iPod) would check all those boxes.
http://quantiloop.com Quantiloop is pretty programmable and you can assign MIDI footswitches to most of its controls. It does up to four tracks, the independent and combined controls, and the output signal routing. It's however a bit more involved to set up than just hooking up an RC-1. |

The normal foot controllers that you use with these aren't MIDI, simply a switching arrangement. Button behavior can have simple program choices selected by the front buttons on the looper on power-up. |

Stay away from the EHX22500. You can't erase your loop with the foowtswitch. It's a process that requires few steps with this looper!!

I agree. The Boomerang III is what I use and can do what you need.
Here's a link to the manual from their site (yes, they are apparently still in production.) https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/24...43209237635358

Just get a Boss RC-300. It does everything you want and a lot more. Get a used one.
