Default that first scratch....

Yesterday i made a first scratch in my Gallagher D71. It is only scratch in the lacquer but still, it hurts. it is in on the lower part of the rosewood side, not to deep so no wood is damaged, only my ego. It made me wonder what coating is used, the Gallagher site mentions "natural gloss" so i have no idea if it is polyurethane or varnisch or...what other options are there?

Of course, as any new owner of a guitar, i'm in doubt: do i leave it there, wait for other scratches to come and live with them or do i fill it, polish it etc.

It is hardly visible for the eye but you van feel it when going over it with your nail.

Any of you guys actually ever tried to fill them, just for your own "peace of mind"?

Congratulations! Now the guitar is officially yours.

Scratches happen. For me, the essential thing is that I make the first one on MY guitar.

Brother...if you want a mint guitar in your collection, buy it then case it up and check on it once a month forever.

If you want a guitar you play...then get after it.

I have both, so don't feel bad if it's fun to play and it gets dinged. You're only getting stared!

I know it's part of live. But....say you have the time and want to fix it, how would you start: drop filling with superglue etc?

Finish repairs are one of the most difficult things to get right.
You have a much better chance of making it look worse. Get a beater, put the same damage on it, and try your skills there. Then you'll have a better idea if you want to try it on your Gallagher.
