Truly a beautiful guitar, Kori! Congratulations. I've never owned a SC, but a friend has an older SC OM that's just magic to play. Really glad you found something that worked with your hand/wrist issues too.

There are times when a guitar sneaks up on you...you have seen it before, you have looked at it but, never pulled it off the wall to play. Other guitars seemed like a better fit, so you left the one hanging...and waiting...until you finally came to your senses.

Enter the Santa Cruz 1929 000 Cedar/Walnut/Burst. My local shop, Tobias Music, custom spec'd this one based on their previous success with this wood combination. I had obviously seen it before but, always paused thinking that Cedar might not be right for me. How wrong could I have been?

This guitar strums beautifully and obviously, is phenomenal played finger style. It is piano-like and so responsive. Yet, there is not a single place on the fretboard where the guitar gets wonky. It is incredibly balanced and warm....oh so very warm. It has a rich and welcoming voice....the kind of guitar that you can play and listen to all day without experiencing any ear fatigue. It is neutral in the way my Collings JLA is but, different.

The burst is phenomenal (pictures do not do it justice) and the playability is wonderful. The neck profile fits my hand perfectly, causing zero strain on my wrist and hand. It feels and plays like it was built for me.

For all of you that doubt cedar in terms of it's headroom, perhaps give it another consideration. If the bracing is right, the build is right, it can take you to surprising places. No, it is not a bluegrass guitar but, it has plenty of headroom to dig in and create a beautiful tone.

There is something magical in this guitar. I am so grateful to have finally pulled it off the shelf.

What a pretty thing that is, and understated in appearance. I love the unadorned look of the fretboard and the subtly shaded back.

Nice to hear it when a guitar just grabs someone's attention like that. Enjoy this beauty for a long time to come. Santa Cruz makes some darn nice guitars.

Best,
Jayne

Awe...thank you. I feel very blessed to have found this one. Or, better said, for it finding me.

Very nice. Love the 1929 000. I've only played the all mahogany.

I have no idea what cedar/walnut would sound like in this model, but you say brighter, not as mellow? Please describe further.

I would say that it is more lush overall...a very nice chime in the trebles but, very warm. Strong low end without being muddy and nice clarity without being bright.

I guess a perfect blend of all the above....and all the things I hope to find in a guitar.

Does that help?
