I voted for Gibson because they also make good electric guitars. Electric players would be in a pickle if Martin was the only choice.

Om second thoughts we should all choose parker fly electrics as the carbon fiber construction should make them more handy weapons against the alien onslaught LOL

To the OP:

Cordoba? Alvarez? Seagull? Eastman? Really?

If we're only going to have one guitar brand, let's make it a world-class builder.

A dealer like Dream Guitars offers the finest instruments by the world's best guitar builders. If you search their inventory, past & present, by builders' names you will find list of well over 400 luthiers.

You say that "The selected company will be allowed to expand its facilities to meet demand" so the fact that many of these are solo builders is irrelevant.

So, would you like to rethink your list?

Default The most innovative guitar company...ever!

Ovation...obviously. Now let me think, besides the round fiberglass back, what are the other Ovation innovations?(...and I may have missed a few).

1. The piezo pickup:

2. Carbon fiber tops:

3. Pin-less bridge:

4. They replaced the traditional soundhole with this:

5. Bolt-on necks:

6. The 'Kaman' bar:

7. Aluminium necks:

8. On board electronics with built in string panning effects:

9. Mic modeling:

10. Internal MP3 recorder:

11. Swap-able preamps.

A quick read of the original post will reveal that the first things the aliens did was to snatch up all the independent luthiers, then the companies. By the time the aliens had a change of heart, there were only those ten guitar building companies left.

I suppose you could build a time machine and get us back to the time when all 400 some-odd builders listed by Dream Guitars were still on earth and pose the question anew. I would be up for that.
