Default Bought A Martin Grand Performance Today!

Picked up my new Martin 20th Anniversary Grand Performance today. It plays, and sounds very nice. Another guitar I didn't need, lol.

I played one of those over and over at GC a couple of days ago. I really liked it. The only one they had had two knots in the neck or it might have come home with me. With the GC 15% off coupon this past weekend, that guitar was a lot of tone for the money!

No knots on this one, perfect all around. Definitely lots of tone for the buck. I'm pleased with my purchase. Now I need to find a case for it. I'm having a bit of trouble finding the correct size.

Wow, the back on that thing is amazing! The top is pretty nice, too! I had a GPCPA4 for a while. Excellent finish, very "refined" tone. I eventually sold it, trying other things. I do like my little GPC12PA4 as a break from my jumbos.....

That size is common for all the GPC Martins, and I'd suspect most "standard" gigbags would work, too. But, besides a Martin case, anything (gigbag or case) for a Taylor x14[ce] series should fit, as well.

Beautiful woods. What specifically are the top and back?

Wow, what a beauty! I just looked up the specs and it looks like it's solid sitka top and Macassar HPL. Can anyone confirm this is the same guitar?

Yes, the back and sides are hpl but unlike the other MartinX's, this 20th anniversary edition model has a wood neck, fretboard, and bridge. It's a nice guitar.

And it sounds really nice.

What lowrider said.

I like the all wood neck vs the Stratabond necks on the other X series, and Rosewood fretboard and bridge are a bonus as well. I'm really liking it so far.

You make it sound like a real POS.😢 I read somewhere that they lose their tone after a couple years, I hope not. I also read they will shatter if hit or dropped.

That was not my intent they are fine guitars. I have never heard anything about tone degradation, I mean the stuff lasts a lifetime used on counter tops, but they can shatter just like wood.

I was joking with my POS comment. Let's just hope I don't drop it lol. It will be a nice campfire guitar!
