Bearsville Theater Complex (Woodstock Luthiers Showcase site) has a new owner
https://hudsonvalleyone.com/2019/09/...s-a-new-owner/
The complex has been getting a little worn. Hopefully when you all return, it will be on it's way back! |

I enjoyed the article and am glad to see new ownership of this property by someone local who sounds like will make it better than ever.

That is great news. I'm missing WILS this year (as we all are), but it will make 2020's event even sweeter!

srick, you won't be missing anything. They are taking a year off this year. Woodstock Invitational will be back next year, better than ever in the newly renovated Bearsville Theatre. WDST is now in the recording studio, so they can't help broadcasting from the site.

Cool
Glad to see the place get a facelift. Maybe she will give the parking lot a little loving care as well.

I have many 'fond' memories of stepping out my car into a mix of rain and clay. Glad I wasn't carrying a $15,000 guitar!

I have never been there when it was not raining and the lot was mud hahaha. Maybe she can fix the weather while she is at it!

That won't work for me. The rain and mud is part of the charm. Thanks for digging up this article, lowrider!

Last year was my first guitar show, I thought inside was awesome, though cramped a little at times. But yeah, that parking lot was a little soggy

I'm glad to see the place is in good hands, it's such a beautiful spot and a great home for the Woodstock show. It would be nice down the road if they could add a little space, it does get a little tight at the show. Can't wait for the next one.

PS - For those of you who have never been, there are three designated practice areas: - a 10 x 6 booth with a door - a small white camping tent - 'out back' - the alcove in front of the rest rooms PPS - And I can't wait for it to return. WILS is a show that brings me back to 1973. Except, I don't remember 1973 as having so many old folks!

Hey Now! Here's our recent September Newsletter, copied below, with a bit more info. There are already new roofs on all the buildings, and the extent of repairs and renovations accomplished in just a month is astounding! And just the beginning... Yes, they've filled all the holes and mud puddles and graded the parking areas; again, just a start. New owner loves the Luthiers Showcase, and we are starting planning for October 2020 now! We should be able to announce the dates in the next month or so.
WILS NEWS - September 2019 Dear Friends, At long last, our first irregular Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase Newsletter! As you probably know, there will be no WILS this coming October 2019. After ten years, we simply needed a break, a year off for rest and planning for our return in October 2020. Our timing has been fortuitous, given uncertainties about our venues that would probably have precluded their use this year. In that regard, there is good news: the property has recently been sold to a new owner who is undertaking complete repairs, renovations and improvements, on track for our return and on into the future! Read about it here: https://hudsonvalleyone.com/2019/09/...s-a-new-owner/ Despite no Luthiers Showcase this year, a number of luthiers, friends, supporters, and regular attendees are coming to Woodstock for the weekend of October 24 - 27, 2019 for their annual reunions and house parties. We have nothing planned, but should any informal, cooperative show-and-tell and/or picking party/concert develop, we will post notices on our Facebook page. Please visit the Sponsors & Friends page on our website for lists of other Shows & Festivals, Community & Media, Charities, Camps & Instruction, here: http://www.woodstockinvitational.com...iends_list.php With special thanks to Team WILS! Production Partners Sharon Klein, Music Coordinator; Chip Brill, Operations Manager and Program Publisher; Mark Heller, Showcase Development; and Lu Ann Bielawa, Events and Volunteers Coordinator. We’ll see you soon! Please contact us with any questions, concerns, suggestions, with thanks and all best regards, Baker Rorick, Founder & Producer Woodstock Invitational LLC PO Box 486, Bearsville, New York, 12409, USA Mobile: +1-845-389-9247 [email protected] www.woodstockinvitational.com www.facebook.com/WoodstockInvitational |

Old folks...

Joke of the week: The two best things about the "good old days": I wasn't good… And I wasn't old! Maybe next year… Paul

It feels odd to reach October and not have this to look forward to. I am kind of at a (mall) loss.
