Default Fishman "Brilliance" control - does what?

A used Breedlove I am looking at has Fishman Classic 4 installed. All the controls work well and quietly, but I can't hear what the "Brilliance" control does. Is it my hearing? What is this control supposed to do to the sound?

It's supposed to make you sound like an amazing guitarist! Sadly, it's not always 100% effective.

It could very well be your hearing, but also keep in mind it could be the system you're plugging the guitar into.

Does it have a tweeter? Is the tweeter adjustable?

The brilliance control is the very top end of the spectrum, and frankly of no use to my way of thinking/hearing/aural sensibilities, etc.

Could also be ear wax........

Best regards,
Howard Emerson

My Martin 000-17e came with the Fishman Enhanced pickup system in it. The Enhance pot brings more of the soundboard transducer into the mix with the undersaddle pickup. I tried it through my Fishman Loudbox Performer and Artist amps and my Bose S1 Pro and could hear absolutely no difference in the sound at all when adjusting the Enhance pot. BTW that guitar is now happily wearing a Baggs Anthem SL and it is exponentially better.

Thanks. So it's supposed to do with super high frequencies what the other controls do for bass, middle, and treble. Dog whistles?

I don't hear any effect through my headphones or guitar amp speaker. I am getting my hearing tested for the first time later this month. My doc says no ear wax. He showed me his new hearing aid. Hmmm.

Like I said, the brilliance control does not seem to be working for me.

Thanks, all, for your responses.

Yes, mine comes and goes on the Platinum Pro. Similar to when I ask for more talent in my monitor

I still have the older Platinum Pro DI. The brilliance control definitely adds something, but I hardly ever used it. It's just a bit more shimmer on top of the sound but I don't really like hi-fi tones so I always left it off.

It’s designed to humble guitarists who overplay...turn up the dial as needed.

:>) I knew I had damage -a dip in the high mids oddly from a test in my thirties. 70 now and a recent 'you can't hear that?' moment prompted some eq sweeps' and surprise'! >8k.. now gone.
Anywho.. the pair of Fishman kit here with 'presence both spec' bell filters @ 10k.
