Default NGD: Furch D20-CM

Hey everyone!

As a a long time lurker I decided to finally take the plunge and become a real member. I've been enjoying all your acquisitions and I thought I'd contribute with one myself.

I got my hands on this pretty Furch D20-CM. Furch is the European version of Stonebridge. I'm not sure how Furch and Stonebridge differ. The designs seem to be identical at least.

The top is American red cedar and the back/sides are African mahogany. All solid woods. It has a satin finish all over. It's a very different experience compared to the glossy finish that I'm used to. I'm a bit sceptic on how well the satin finish will keep up. In any case, the guitar sounds very good. The range is very great and it has a very clear sound for higher pitches notes.

The build quality feels great. The store I bought it from had to order a new one with cutaway as they only had one without. I'm happy to see that I got one from 2015 with the new ebony fretboard, bridge and headstock. I was told that I would get one of the "old models" with rosewood instead. Always nice a little surprise.

And here's the beauty

And for good measure: a shot of the new arrival attempting to socialize a little

Congratulations!!!

I tested the guitar a couple of days ago.
Very good instrument. Still decided not buy it, since it appeared to be only slightly better than my current axe worth half of the price.

The thing with Furch is THIS is the mother company of Stonebridge, not vice versa.

Furch and Stonebridge are exactly the same guitars just the name on the head differs.
Itīs an amazing European built guitar with a wonderful tone.
I think the brand Stonebridge soon will be deleted and all the guitars will be called Furch

But watch out, due to the satin finnish itīs extremly sensible for dings. On my D20-CM (sold last year) i got two dings from fingernail on the top just reaching out to grab it.

Yeah, I thought too that it's a bit more susceptible to dings and such. In any case the satin finish gives a nice wooden feel.

I was wondering about polishing satin finishes. I've read somewhere about 00000 steel wool can recreate the satin feel. Does this actually work?

I'm a huge Furch/Stonebridge fan. In my opinion they are as good as any guitar available. My OM32SMDB is my keeper and I play it on the road just about every weekend. I can't see myself getting rid of it any time soon and It's definitely well worth what I paid for it.
