Yes, but another Taylor advantage is playability. For someone shifting from electric to acoustic the Taylor neck should be an advantage.

I think my Mexican Martin is quite a good deal at $500.
I've tried Eastman, every single one in their entire 22 series up to 822, and I think this Martin sounds better. Quote:

I didn't read the thread, but if you're still undecided my recommendation to try is the Yamaha LL16, seems to be what you're seeking spec wise.

No need to spend so much, so soon. Just my opinion.
If you have small hands, look for a small scale guitar. Epiphone/Gibson are small scale guitars. Also, look for smaller body guitars, as others have mentioned already. Welcome to the wonderful world of acoustic guitars!
