Default Pickguard

I placed an order with MF a few days ago for a tortoise pickguard (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/acces...stic-pickguard) but it's on backorder.

I remember finding some cool looking wood pickguards on eBay, and wondered how a rosewood (http://www.ebay.com/itm/True-Custom-...item1c4de2ea9e) or sapele (http://www.ebay.com/itm/True-Custom-...item20ef57a276) one would match the woods of the guitar.

If you can find just the right match/contrast, I think that would be great. I have actually been wanting to put a wood one on one of my guitars

i have the same guitar and yes the string spacing is a tad narrow for me as well as I am used to the Lowden spacing , but for a low priced acoustic I still think its good value

Yeah, I assume it'll just take some getting used to the spacing. I guess that's why players (especially fingerstyle ones) note the importance of spacing at the saddle over spacing at the nut. I'll have to do another review after playing it for some time and letting the top really open up.

As far as the pickguard, I received an email frim MF that the tortoise one I ordered days ago and that was supposedly on backorder until early next month has now shipped. Between that and the AGF threads I read last night on the wooden pickguards, I think I'll stick with the tortoise one.

Are you sure it has a 1.75" nut? I was wanting that size and emailed Alvarez -- they replied all their dreads were 1 & 11/16th". The Artist series Alvarez I own and the Master series my nephew owns both have the 1 & 11/16th width nuts.

Yup, according to the Alvarez website it's 1 3/4" nut width. I believe that's standard on the Masterworks dreads, while the Artist series dreads may be 1 11/16".

Pretty sure it's a feature they recently changed. Used to all be 1 11/16". Now some or all are 1 3/4" (not sure which ones, or if all of them are now or not)
